POKOTABI / Midoen
味道苑
Midoen in Oyata, Adachi Ward, serves signature salt-seasoned beef tongue, an array of offal cuts, and satisfying yakiniku lunch sets.
01 / ABOUT THE PLACE
A plume of savory smoke signals the arrival of well-marbled cuts at Midoen, a yakiniku specialist long favored in Adachi Ward's Oyata neighborhood. Daytime brings hearty set meals, while evenings invite diners around the tabletop grills to order their choice of cuts at leisure.
The à la carte menu highlights special salt-sauce jō-tongue and classic beef tongue alongside stalwarts like premium short rib (jō-karubi), sirloin (jō-rōsu), and skirt steak (jō-harami). The thick-cut tongue balances tender bite with rich savor, opening up with gentle grilling and a topping of scallions. Diners can also choose miso or salt sauces for offal such as horumon, mountain chain tripe (jō-mino), and liver, or start with cold dishes like tongue sashimi and sakura yukhoe (horse meat tartare), paired with highballs or sweet potato shochu topped with soda.
At lunch, the classic yakiniku set—complete with namul, kimchi, salad, and soup—is an easy go-to, as is the double-portion 1.5-serving set for bigger appetites. The kitchen also puts together a spread of rice and noodle dishes, including stone-pot bibimbap sets, spicy yukgaejang-style gomtang (daegutang) kuppa sets, and cold noodle sets served with mini bibimbap bowls.
With a choice of standard tables and low-table zashiki seating, the dining area works comfortably for friends and family gatherings alike. Because both seating and parking spots are limited, an advance booking is best for evening visits.
